Location: Las Vegas, NV

Today, Nevada's current attorney general joined 21 sheriffs and district attorneys from across the Silver State to endorse Republican candidate Dr. Joe Heck for U.S. Senate. The "Law Enforcement for Heck" coalition also features 29 detectives, sergeants, captains, deputy chiefs and other law enforcement professionals.

Known for his service as a physician and brigadier general in the Army Reserve, Heck also has extensive experience with local and federal law enforcement going back 23 years. In 1993, Heck started as a volunteer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Search and Rescue unit. In 1995, he established the LVMPD SWAT tactical medicine program.

Owing to the success of that program, in 1998 Heck was recruited to be the medical director for the Department of Defense program that provided medical support to federal law enforcement agencies. He participated in tactical law enforcement operations with the FBI Hostage Rescue Team, U.S. Marshals Service Special Operations Group, ATF Special Response Teams, and U.S. Secret Service Protective Operations, among others. Heck was a sworn Special Deputy U.S. Marshal.

In 2003, he started Specialized Medical Operations, a small business providing medical training and consulting to law enforcement, EMS, and military special operations. Heck is widely published and has lectured on special operations medical support, medical response to acts of terrorism, and emergency preparedness and response.

"From working in law enforcement and emergency response to serving my country in the Army Reserve, I've devoted my life to keeping Nevada's families safe. That is why I am honored to be endorsed by so many dedicated law enforcement professionals from across Nevada and I look forward to continuing to work together with these men and women as U.S. Senator to make the security of all Nevadans a top priority," said Dr. Joe Heck.

In Congress, Heck successfully fought to help ensure Las Vegas receives its fair share of Homeland Security funding to prevent terrorist attacks. He is also committed to achieving the dual goals of ending human trafficking and supporting its victims. Heck is a member of the House Trafficking Task Force and introduced H.R. 468, the Enhancing Services for Runaway and Homeless Victims of Youth Trafficking Act, which was included in a larger anti-trafficking bill and signed into law by the President. He is a cosponsor of H.R. 4406, Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act to assist law enforcement in preventing human trafficking.

"When it comes to the safety and security of Nevadans, Joe Heck would bring an unprecedented depth and breadth of expertise to the job of U.S. Senator. His experience with local and federal law enforcement, when combined with his national security experience as a brigadier general and a member of the House Intel committee, makes him uniquely qualified to address the challenges our communities face in an increasingly dangerous world," said Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt.

"People know Joe as a doctor or a veteran or a brigadier general. What they may not know is that he has a long history with local and federal law enforcement. From Metro search and rescue to the SWAT medic program to elite federal units like the FBI HRT and U.S. Marshals SOG, when it comes to keeping Nevadans safe, Joe's qualifications are unequalled. For 23 years he has been a strong partner for Nevada's law enforcement community and I am confident that partnership will continue when Joe Heck is our next U.S. Senator," said Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo.

"My priority is achieving justice, promoting public safety in Washoe County, and protecting victims. That is why I support Dr. Joe Heck for U.S. Senate. Dr. Heck has demonstrated his respect for the rule of law and a genuine understanding of what it takes to make Northern Nevada safer. I believe he will be a strong partner to advocate for the concerns of our communities in the U.S. Senate." said Washoe County District Attorney Christopher Hicks.

"I believe Joe Heck is someone who Nevadans will be proud to say is their U.S. Senator, which is why I am proud to support him," said Nye County District Attorney Angela Bello.

"I support Dr. Joe Heck because he is a dedicated active community servant and represents the average guy. I'm proud to join law enforcement from around the state of Nevada to support Joe Heck for United States Senate," said Churchill County Sheriff Benjamin Trotter.

"When I consider Joe Heck's wealth of experience, not only in medicine and the military, but in law enforcement as well, it's clear he possesses the capability and drive to represent the best interests of conservative Nevadans in the U.S. Senate. Dr. Heck reflects my values as a prosecutor, father, and outdoorsman, which is why I am supporting him to replace Harry Reid as the next U.S. Senator from Nevada," said White Pine County District Attorney Mike Wheable.

"As a sergeant with Metro, keeping our community safe is my top priority. That's why I support Joe Heck for U.S. Senate. He has worked with local and federal law enforcement, he has served our country as a soldier, and in Congress he has fought for Homeland Security funding to prevent terrorist attacks right here in Las Vegas. I am honored to join law enforcement leaders across Nevada to endorse Joe Heck," said LVMPD Sergeant Sophia Kypreos.

"Dr. Heck has been a supporter of law enforcement here in Nevada during his years in Congress and he will be an advocate of law enforcement and police in Nevada in the future. I stand with Nevada law enforcement to support Dr. Joe Heck for United States Senate," said Lyon County District Attorney Stephen Rye.

"I have known Joe Heck for more than 20 years, having met him in the emergency room at the county hospital where Joe treated thousands of our residents and saved untold lives. He then got involved in the LVMPD, joining our volunteer citizen search and rescue team where he donated hundreds of hours to assist us in searching for and rescuing numerous people. Joe then came to work for me when I was elected Clark County Sheriff as the LVMPD medical director where I personally found working closely with Joe that he is the epitome of commitment, ethics, integrity and smarts. Joe is unquestionably our best bet to replace Harry Reid and defeat Reid's hand-picked candidate. Please join me in voting for Joe Heck as our next U.S. Senator," said Bill Young, Clark County sheriff, retired.
